Introduction ===================================================================== Hello! This is Renard, writing a Guide for the Gameboy Advance game Ecks vs. Sever. Use the contents to search for a certain section quickly, or just read the whole document. If you have any questions or comments, please refer to the Credits Section. The game Ecks vs. Sever is based on a movie that still isn't released, and probably never will in Europe. The game is highly popular because of the 3D graphics, and the nice fps (first person shooter) features. Combined with the Multi-Player mode and nice graphics, it's really worth the money. Ecks vs. Sever 2 will be released somewhere in 2003, I don't know much about this game yet, only that it will probably use the same enginge as Ecks vs. Sever 1. That means about the same graphics and gameplay, but with some improvements like new weapons, items, multi-player modes, and maybe bots? Keep an eye on this document since I'll add all pre-release info to this document. ===================================================================== 2. E-Mail policy: *Please include the tag "Ecks vs. Sever" in the subject of your e-mail. *Any support is very appreciated! *Smart questions about the game will be answered. *Anything that I don't know about this game and is relevant to the Guide is also appreciated! You'll be added to the Credits Section when you send me good info. *Don't send e-mails with questions already covered in this FAQ. Thank you for reading this part. ===================================================================== 4. Characters ===================================================================== Jonathan Ecks ------------- Jonathan Ecks was born in Massachusetts, South Boston USA. Joined the FBI when he became adult, and trained at the SWAT. He received Special Director's Citations and Commendations during his first three years. He left the FBI short after his wife and son were killed in a car bombing. Sever ----- She was taken into the NSA as an orphaned child. She was trained to kill, and is an elite tactical operative. She's a young pretty woman, but also has a much darker and colder side covered into her deadly nature. ===================================================================== 5. Gameplay Tips ===================================================================== This Section gives some general Gameplay Tips and information on how to move your character. *The controls for your character are quite basic, and don't give much surprises. D-PAD Move your character A-BUTTON Fire your weapon B-BUTTON Action (Open doors, use levers etc.) L-BUTTON Sidestep left, Zoom out when in Sniper view R-BUTTON Sidestep right, Zoom in when in Sniper view L+R Duck START Confirm options, menu SELECT Cycle through weapons There is no way to change this, but you can look at the control configuration under the OPTIONS, CONTROLS menu. *Use the Strafe-option often. It can save your life very often to sidestep around a corner, since the enemies are often there. *Don't save too much ammo. You can't take anything to the next mission, so don't bother to save all your ammo for the next, more difficult mission. However, don't just shoot around when you know you won't hit anybody, because maybe you'll need the ammo for the more difficult enemies in the same mission. *Try to be accurate. Nobody gets killed by some shots three meter away from the enemy. *Explore every mission. To get the most fun out of the game, it's best if you explore everything. This way you'll often encounter extras such as new weapons and items. *Try different ways to accomplish your goals. Don't walk in the same guy with it's big gun a hundred times, but try to find more items or get past him without getting spotted. *When you finished the game with one character, try to beat it with the other because Ecks and Sever receive other mission objectives, since they both have their own role in the story. ===================================================================== 6. Walkthrough ===================================================================== This Section gives a full walkthrough to the game. I've devided it in two parts, one for the Ecks missions and one for the Sever missions. Note: this part is full of spoilers. If you want to finish the game on your own, don't use this part as it may take some of the fun away. PART I - THE ECKS MISSIONS MISSION 1 --------- OBJECTIVE: LOCATE THE ROOM WITH THE LAPTOP You'll begin in an alley. Walk forward and turn around the corner. Shoot the Security Agent with your pistol and pick up the Door Key 1. Open the door to enter a shed. Shoot the yellow barrels in front of you. Get behind the brown boxes to pick up some Body Armour. Walk a bit back and shoot the two Security Agents behind the other pile of boxes. Walk around the blue container and kill the other three Security Guards. Pick up the Cold M16A2, the ammo for it, the Pistol Ammo and the Health Kit. Walk a bit back and shoot the ventilator for the Body Armour. Follow the passage and climb out at the next gap. Shoot the Security Guard and the yellow barrels blocking the way. Open the door and shoot the Security Guard. Pick up the Cold M16A2 ammo. Turn right and shoot the Security Guard between the blue and the red container. Open the door and prepare yourself for a bit of a fight. Four Security Guards will stand on the platform or below it. Shoot them with the Cold M16A2 and walk on. Use the R button to quickly strafe and kill the Security Guard around the corner. Walk on and kill the other Security Guard carrying a Health Kit. Keep using the strafe keys to kill the following guard. First, turn right and enter the room. Use the Cold to kill the four Security Guards here. Now head the other way and enter another room. Kill the two Security Guards by shooting the yellow barrels. Leave the room and shoot the Security Guard in the back. Strafe and shoot the Security Guard. Don't fall of the gap because you'll be right back at the start if you do. Instead, turn around the corner and shoot the Security Guard. Follow the corridor and enter the room. Three FBI Agents will be guarding the laptop. Kill them with your Cold and walk up to the laptop. Mission Accomplished! MISSION 2 --------- OBJECTIVE: THE BOMB IS ACTIVATED. ESCAPE WITHIN 3 MINUTES. This is a timed mission so you'll probably run out of time if you want to pick up all the weapons and goodies in this level, be sure to keep an eye on the timer. Walk around the corner and kill the Security Guard for a Pancor Jackhammer shotgun. Open the door and go right. Walk up to the Security Guard and kill him. Pick up the ammo and walk on. Shoot the ventilator and crouch. Creep through the shaft and run to the Body Armour. Go all the way back or just fall of the ledge. Kill everybody on your way and go to the elevator. Use it to ascend and open the next door. First, go forward and use strafe to kill the FBI Agent. Shoot the barrels to kill another one. Go back and go left from the entrance. An elevator will take you up, allowing you to pick up a Cold M16A2. Fall down to pick up some ammo for the gun, and choose the gun you prefer with the Select button. Open the door and kill the three FBI Agents and the two Security Guards. Crouch and creep underneath the half open door. Mission Accomplished! MISSION 3 --------- OBJECTIVES: SHOOT SEVER DEAD. RENDEZVOUS WITH MILLS AND GET DECIPHERING KEY 1. You'll start (again) in an alley. Pick up the SSG3000 and the ammo for it. This part can be a bit tricky. Search for a position where you have a good look on the window, but keep yourself far away from it. Press the A button to go to Sniper View. Hold the R button to zoom in, untill you see Sever tossing Grenades at you. Use the D pad to move the view up or down. Aim carefully, and put a bullet in her head. (though sometimes bullets miss even if you aim for the head) If you did this correctly, she will flee and allow you to progress. Press the B button and switch to your pistol. Continue your way and kill the two Security Guards, one holding SSG3000 Ammo and the other holding a Health Kit. Strafe left and kill the FBI Agent. Get the Pancor Jackhammer and switch to the SSG3000. Keep distance and shoot Sever two times. Strafe right and shoot the Security Guard. Get the Body Armour which the Security Guard dropped. Follow the corridor and shoot the two FBI Agents. Get the ammo and turn around the corner. Shoot the Security Guard and pick up the ammo. There is a window on your left, with Sever behind it. Strafe right and immediately shoot Sever 3 times with the Jackhammer untill she runs. Turn to the right and kill the FBI Agent. Pick up the Health Kit and walk on. Kill all resistance on your way untill you reach the next window. Switch to your SSG3000 and shoot her four times. Continue and shoot the Security Guard. Turn to right and get your SSG3000 ready again. Zoom in and kill the FBI Agent. Turn a bit left and shoot the Security Guard behind the yellow container. Follow the way and kill the FBI agent in the corridor. Pick up the Cold M16A2 and shoot another FBI agent around the corner. Keep using Strafe->shoot untill you reach an inner court. Mills will be lying dead on the ground with Sever next to him. Pick up deciphering key 1 and go to the small black area to complete the mission. Mission Accomplished! MISSION 4 --------- OBJECTIVE: FOLLOW SEVER. DON'T LOSE HER. In this whole mission you'll be chasing Sever, but it doesn't matter if you're fast or not since she will wait for you if you can't keep up with her. At the start, follow Sever untill you reach two Security Guards. Kill them for a Pancor Jackhammer and some Pistol Ammo. Enter the building and shoot the Security Guard. Pick up the ammo and go up the stairs. Shoot another Security Guard for a Health Kit. Follow the corridor untill you reach a room. Kill the Security Guard and open the window with the B button. Use crouch to climb through. Kill the Security Guard and pick up the Body Armour. Open the next window and climb through. Shoot the Security Guard for a Cold M16A2. Follow the corridor and shoot the Security Guard for some Cold ammo. Walk on and you'll see a glimp of Sever again. Follow her and kill the SWAT trooper. The best way to do this is by running into him while shooting him with the Pancor Jackhammer. Get the ammo from him and move on. Kill the two Security Guards on the street for some Pistol Ammo and a Medi Pack. A FBI agent will probably walk up to you, kill him with any weapon you like. Enter the next building and kill the FBI agent for a Health Kit. Enter the room and shoot the FBI agent behind the brown boxes. Pick up the ammo and open the window. Climb through and kill the Security Guard for a new weapon: the Ingram Mac 11. This Uzi class weapon shoots an enormous amount of bullets in relative short time. Switch to this weapon because you'll encounter some more tough enemies. Kill the SWAT trooper for some Body Armour and walk back to the first window. Open it and enter the room. Shoot the Security Guard for Pistol Ammo, and go back through the window. Enter the second window and kill the two SWAT troopers for some ammo. Go down the stairs and shoot another SWAT trooper. Enter the room and kill two Security Guards holding Pistol Ammo. Move on and use strafe to kill another SWAT trooper. Pick up the Mac11 ammo and walk on. Kill the next two SWAT troopers for a Health Kit and some more Mac11 ammo. Leave the building and shoot the SWAT trooper next to the yellow container. Follow the route and kill two SWAT troopers guarding the streets. Go around the corner and kill the SWAT leader and another SWAT trooper. Walk in the black area behind the door. Mission Accomplished! MISSION 5 --------- OBJECTIVE: LOCATE DESHIPHERING KEY 2 You'll start in the Viper Lounge. Follow the path and shoot the Security Guard dead. Walk around the left side of the bar, but don't go behind to pick up the weapon! First, go through the narrow space between the bar and the wall, and go down the stairs to the basement of the bar. There are some very useful pick-ups here, a Pancor Jackhammer, two packs of bullets and some Body Armour. Armed with your new weapon, go a bit back and you'll notice a few SWAT guys wandering around. You don't want them to pick you off at the distance so crouch and creep towards them. The SWAT has surrounded the whole bar so be prepared for a huge fire fight. If they aren't already there, they will probably raid the bar very soon. Creep behind the bar, stand up and shoot two or three SWAT troopers. Immediately crouch, turn to the left, and creep to the HK G11. Stand up and carefully shoot every living SWAT trooper dead with your new weapon. Walk back and all around the bar to pick up all the goodies the SWAT troopers dropped. Be sure to pick up the Health Kit because you'll probably be low on health now. When you're on the right side of the bar, go up the stairs. There are two SWAT troopers in the next room. Switch to your Jackhammer, run into them and shoot them from nearby. This way they will only need about 2 shots. Grab everything and return to the main room of the bar. If you want to, return to the very start of the level and shoot the SWAT trooper behind the boxes for a Medi-pack. When you return to the main room, there will be about four SWAT troopers entering from the left side of the room and some on the right side of the room. First kill the ones on the left with your best weapon by creeping a bit towards them. Try to save your health! Now turn around and kill the other SWAT troopers. It helps a lot to crouch because some of the SWAT troopers stand half behind the bar and can't shoot you this way. Don't worry, if you made it this far you've done the trickiest part of the mission. If you aren't there already, go to the right side of the bar and walk around the back of the bar. You'll see a billiard-table, walk around it and go outside. Strafe right and shoot the SWAT trooper for a Health Kit. There is another SWAT trooper behind the last yellow container. Kill him for some Body Armour. Turn around the left corner and shoot the SWAT trooper for some more Body Armour. Go in the small building via the left door. Kill the two SWAT troopers there. They'll drop Pancor Jackhammer shells and HK G11 ammo. Between the brown boxes and the window is another SWAT trooper that drops a Health Kit. Open the window and climb through. (L+R, remember) Switch to your Pancor Jackhammer if you haven't readied it already, walk upto the SWAT trooper and shoot him two times to kill him. Pick up the shells and go to the street. Kill the next SWAT trooper right in front of you, and continue forward. Use the Pancor and Strafe to kill another SWAT trooper. Switch to your pistol and shoot the ventilator. Fall in the room, and kill the SWAT trooper there. Leave the room and go to the left side of the bar. (Note: left as if you were in front of the bar, probably right at your current position) There's a banner above the corridor you need to take, with "LiveShow". Kill the last three SWAT troopers with any weapon you'd want to use, and pick up Deciphering Key 2. Walk into the "LiveShow" area. Mission Accomplished! MISSION 6 --------- OBJECTIVE: LOCATE SEVER AND ATTEMPT TO BRING HER DOWN. When you press the Start button to start the mission, you will immediately be shot by a SWAT trooper. There is no way to avoid this, he will always take at least 10 life of you. Turn a bit to the right, aim carefully and quick, and put him full of bullets. Pick up the Pancor Jackhammer behind the counter and continue. Use strafe to kill another SWAT trooper. Strafe left and you'll see another SWAT trooper. You can probably take him out with your pistol, but you may want to use your Pancor Jackhammer to save some health. Don't run to the Health Kit he drops, but first strafe right to kill another SWAT trooper who stands in the doorway a bit to your left, behind a counter. Pick up the Health Kit and walk behind the counter. Kill the SWAT trooper standing on a pile of boxes and pick up the shells and the Body Armour. Climb up the boxes and shoot the ventilator. Use your Pancor Jackhammer to shoot the next ventilator and the SWAT trooper at the same time, and if he isn't dead, shoot him again. Pick up the HK G11 and the ammo, then leave the room. Enter the room next to the room you just left, and pick up the Body Armour and the Health Kit. Make sure you've readied your Pancor Jackhammer, and enter the last room in the corridor, next to the other two rooms. Kill the SWAT trooper and pick up the HK G11 ammo. Leave the room and follow the path to a large room. (looks like a party room or something) This is the room where you'll fight Sever, as described in your briefing. Switch to your HK G11 and enter the room. The best way to bring Sever to 1/3 of her health is to crouch. She will miss all the rockets if you have a lot of space behind you. Be sure to look behind you because if your back is near to a wall, the explosion of the rocket will hit you. Alternatively, you can use your HK G11 and strafe left and right to avoid her rockets. When she's at 1/3 of her health, she will blow up a door and run through it. Go to the other side of the room and follow her a bit. Watch out! She will be waiting for you with her rocket launcher, so strafe a bit left through the door and keep shooting her with your HK G11. She will blow up another area, follow her there. Mission Accomplished! MISSION 7 --------- OBJECTIVES: Locate Dechiphering Key 3. Activate the lift switches. Locate keys to the weapon storage lock-ups. When you press Start to start the mission, hold the L button! If you don't you can easily lose 30 health at start from a Security Guard with a Pancor Jackhammer. When you stand in the corner, turn your view to the wall left of you, hold R and take out the Security Guard with your Pistol. Pick up the Pancor Jackhammer, move to the next room, and quickly shoot down another Security Guard before he opens fire at you. Go back to where you started and follow the passage to a SWAT trooper. Shoot him and seek cover behind the wall. Repeat this untill he goes down. Pick up the Pancor Jackhammer ammo and take the first right. There are three SWAT troopers in that area, first take out the two on the right of the room. Turn around, and kill the last SWAT trooper. Pick up everything, leave, and kill the SWAT trooper guarding the elevator-switches. Flip both switches. Be quick because your Thermal Goggles won't last forever. Go all the way back to the area where you started. Enter either the left or the right elevator, it doesn't really matter but I recommend to do the right one first because you get the M16A2 there which you could use later on the route of the left elevator. If you want to do elevator 1 first, just switch the order of the following paragraphs. Either way, you need to do both of the Elevators! Elevator 2: When you leave the elevator, strafe a bit left and shoot the SWAT trooper. Just keep tapping the A button so he doesn't get a chance to fire back at you. Open the window, climb out and kill the SWAT trooper on your right. Get Door Key 1 and continue to the next window. Open it and shoot the SWAT trooper inside the room. Climb through the window and pick up the Pistol Ammo. Continue to a bathroom with a few showers. The first "opening" in the wall contains some Pancor Jackhammer shells, the second contains a Cold M16A2, the third contains some M16A2 ammo, and the last contains a SWAT trooper. Take him out and pick up the Thermal Goggles. Shoot the ventilator behind the body and climb through. Pick up everything and return to the main room. Elevator 1: Enter the first room on your left and kill the Security Guard and the SWAT trooper. Pick up the Pancor Jackhammer ammo and Door Key 2. Leave the room and shoot the next SWAT trooper for a pair of Thermal Goggles. Continue, shoot the ventilator, climb through and go outside. Run to the left of the roof and jump down. Take out the Security Guard and the SWAT trooper. Search for a ventilator somewhere in the area. Shoot it and climb through. You'll be back in the Hotel. From the end of the Elevator 1 paragraph, open the door in front of you and pick up the Minigun, the Minigun Ammo, the Health Kit and some Body Armour. Open the next door and flip the switch. The light will go on and lift 3 will be activated. Return to the main room and go through lift 3. (the middle one) If you didn't early, switch to your Minigun. As the doors open, shoot down the SWAT troopers at the end of the corridor. Go to the first room on your left and take out the SWAT trooper there. leave and enter the room on the right. Kill the SWAT trooper and crouch through the hole. Pick up the Health Kit and shoot the ventilator on the other side. Shoot the Security Guard for some Minigun ammo and go back to the elevator. Enter the second room on your left and kill the SWAT trooper. Open the window and shoot the SWAT trooper in the back for some more Minigun Ammo. Leave and return to the elevator. Walk all the way to the back of the corridor and take out the two SWAT troopers. Enter the left corridor and shoot the SWAT trooper and the FBI agent in the back. Strafe right to enter the blue corridor, and kill the SWAT trooper you'll face. Walk a bit forward, turn around and shoot the SWAT trooper that tries to shoot you in the back. Enter the room, kill another SWAT trooper and get Door Key 3. Climb through the windows, and leave the blue colored area. Shoot the SWAT trooper you'll encounter on your way back, and enter the area where he stood. Be sure to pick up Deciphering Key 3 (it's on your right), and open the door on the left. Flip the switch and walk all the way back to the room where you started the mission, the main room. When you go back with Elevator 3, a nasty surprise will be waiting for you. Three SWAT troopers will be waiting, ready to pump you full of lead. Take them out with your Minigun or just run to Elevator 4. Mission Accomplished! MISSION 8 --------- OBJECTIVE: ACTIVATE THE LIFT SWITCHES AND ESCAPE. In this mission, it is demanded that you move very quickly. This mission isn't very difficult, but it may take several tries because you need to be fast. Anyway, you'll start where you finished Mission 7, outside Elevator 4. Follow the passage and take the first right. Shoot the Security Guard and pick up the Pancor Jackhammer along with the ammo. Keep on moving, don't kill all the Security Guards but run to the window and try to avoid their bullets by using L and R. Climb through the window, and enter by the next window. Dispose of the Security Guard and pick up the Health Kit. Run through the corridor but take the first right. Flip the switch and keep on running. Don't bother to take all SWAT troopers, there are just too many of them. When you reach a room with two elevators in the back, kill the SWAT troopers there for the HK G11 and some ammo. Take the right elevator and run between the SWAT troopers on the roof. Fall down, and walk a bit forward. Take the right and crouch. Mission Accomplished! MISSION 9 --------- OBJECTIVES: LOCATE THE BUNKER PASSKEY. LOCATE DECHIPHERING KEY 4. You start the mission in the NSA Headquarters. Walk forward, turn 90 degrees to the right and shoot the Security Guard. Go behind the counter for some Body Armour, a Grenade Launcher and an Ingram Mac11. Use the speaker on the wall to open the door, and continue. Take out the Security Guard behind another counter, and walk up to him. Go behind the counter ON THE LEFT, and crouch. Pick up the HK G11 and Deciphering key 4, and some doors on the back of the room will open. Crouch behind the counter for a save area. Some NSA operatives will enter the room from where the doors opened. They will probably try to attack you from different directions, try to take them out one by one with short bursts of fire. Aim carefully because you'll need the ammo later on. When you have taken out all of them, be sure to pick up everything they have dropped. Go to the left side of the room (from the start) and open the doors. Go up with the elevator and shoot the two NSA Operatives when the doors open. Pick up the Health Kit and the Pancor Ammo. Enter every room on each side of the corridor for a lot of pickups. Follow the corridor and kill another pair of NSA Operatives. Pick up the ammo they dropped, and enter every room on each side of the corridor. Follow the passage where you killed a Security Guard. When you enter this room you'll encounter some more NSA Operatives. Dispose of them with your HK G11, and pick up everything you can find here. Follow the passage and kill the NSA Operative around the corner. Make your way to a medium sized room with some large doors on it. Walk up to the door but BEWARE! A NSA Operative will surprise you by opening the door from the other side. Kill him for some Grenade Launcher ammo. Get everything in the rooms that connect to the corridor. Get the Minigun and go to the Training Room. Enter the ventilation shaft and pick up everything inside. When you got everything, return to the main room. (the room where you got the HK G11) Some new enemies have spawned inside, so take care of them first. When you're done, enter the elevator on the left which required key 2. Kill the NSA Operative on the other side of the corridor with your HK G11. Use strafe to kill the NSA Operative and the Security Guard on the right of the corridor. Walk on and open the door near the dead NSA guy. Crouch and move on. You have entered some kind of meeting room, kill the Security Guards and the NSA Operative (behind the table) and pick up everything. Leave the room on the other side. Make your way to a big door on the other side of the corridor and open it. Kill the NSA Operative and open another door. Kill another NSA member and open the most-left door. Kill the enemy behind the table, pick up the goods, and get Door Key 3. Leave and you'll see that another door has opened. Kill everybody inside and pick up all the goods, then return to the very main room. Open the first door which required Door Key 3 (the one on on your right as you leave the elevator). Walk up the stairs and kill the two NSA Operatives inside the corridor. In this sort of Main Control Room kill everybody or just walk around to a large metal door. Open it, and keep going through untill you see: "MISSION COMPLETE" MISSION 10 ---------- OBJECTIVES: Find the mainframe computer room. Confront Sever for the last time. When you start the mission, get the Cold, the ammo and the Body Armour and walk onto the next room. Now walk a bit forward, turn around and hold the D-Pad DOWN button untill you hear the sound of opening doors. Two NSA Operatives will try to surprise you. Kill them and get every item they drop. The best way to do this is to get behind the back of one of them and then shoot them both. When you finished them off you should have 100 health and 100 Armour but one Body Armour and two Health Kits still in this room. If you have less, start again. Open the door and use the Cold to kill the NSA guy on the other side of the room. Carefully walk to the right side of the corridor and you'll notice a NSA Operative. Kill him carefully and do the same thing for the NSA Operative at the other side. Be sure to pick up everything (including the SSG3000) and open the most left door. Kill the NSA Operative on the other side with the Cold, then switch to your SSG3000. Now comes the trick, press L and R at the same time to duck, crawl forward to the broad window, press A to get into sniper view, and press D-Pad UP. You must keep holding L and R untill you reached sniper view for this trick to work. Once you did all this, just pick off the three NSA Operatives who can't see you! Leave the sniper view, walk through the corridor and pick up the Pancor. Open the first left door and take out the NSA Operative on the left. Pick up one or two Health Kits and the ammo, then crawl through the ventilation shaft near the Health Kits. Open each end of the ventilation to get to the total useless Proximity Mines. Yay! Crawl back afterwards. Open the small door you didn't come from and shoot the guy inside with the Cold. Open the next door and crouch to dodge the bullets the two NSA Operatives will likely shoot at you. You can also use the blue chairs as cover. Pick up Door Key 1 and any other goods that your enemies left. Open the small door near a broad window and pick up the two sets of Pancor Ammo and leave. Now open the big door and take the first big door on your left. Kill the two NSA Operatives there and pick up the HK G11 and the Body Armor. Backtrack to the room where you got the SSG3000, and if you aren't already at 100 Health, get it now. After that, open the middle big door (it's in the middle seen from the side where you first entered the room). Get everything around the big table and open the next small door. Turn around the corner to the left and you'll notice a NSA guy there. Kill him any way you like (it can be done even with the proximity stuff) and get the Health Kit to restore any Health you lost. Notice the Body Armor behind another pair of blue boxes, you can get it now or backtrack later when you really need it. Pick up the SSG3000 ammo and the Grenade Launcher ammo. As you continue two NSA Operatives will attack you. Kill them with the HK G11 or, if you have any ammo, the Cold. Pick up the SSG ammo and the Grenade Launcher ammo, continue and kill another NSA bastard for a Health Kit. Keep moving through the blue and gray box-area and get the Proximity Mines and other stuff guared by a NSA guy. Get the first set of Grenades, and get the Body Armor and then stop moving. Turn 90 degrees to the left and strafe to the right with the HK G11 to kill the NSA Operative. Pick up the grenades he drops and open the ventilation shaft. Crouch and crawl through. Don't take the short way, but crawl all the way to the end of the ventilation shaft. Kill the two NSA Operatives and pick up Door Key 2 and the Grenade launcher. Look out the window and throw grenades (not with the Grenade Launcher) untill you finished off the two bad guys down there. Open the door and kill the NSA Operative (he has his back turned at you 8) ) with the Pancor. Walk all the way downstairs and open the door. The room is filled with ammo and other goodies, be sure to pick up the Minigun since you'll need at the end of the level. Don't open the door but instead backtrack all the way to the room with the blue boxes. Open the door you didn't open earlier, it contains some sort of lobby with one NSA Operative in it, he carries a Health Kit. You can kill him easily with the Pancor by circling around him and shooting him after you reloaded from your previous shot. If you did it correctly, you didn't lose any health. (but it can be tricky to do so sometimes) Open the door that you saw just ahead of you when you entered the lobby, it's a room with blue boxes and two NSA Operatives. Kill them and pick up the Body Armor and the HK G11 ammo. Open the ventilation shaft and crawl through. Get the three sets of grenades and retreat. Open the next door if you feel ready for a bit of a fight. This room is quite hard to empty, as your enemies are scattered through the whole corridor. The best strategy is probably to take them on one by one very carefully. Use the HK G11 and save the Minigun ammo. Never, and I mean never, run into the room when there are three or more NSA Operatives still alive. They can take you out in about two or three seconds. Since you need at least two seconds to take out one of them, say bye bye to your life... This part is the most frustrating of the whole level (at least to me) and may take several tries. When you killed them all, pick up everything and open a side door with about three NSA Operatives in it. Kill them, shoot the ventilation shaft, climb in and pick up everything in it. When you saved a Body Armor or a Health Kit somewhere else in the level, get it now. When you feel ready for your final fight with Sever, shoot the other side of the ventilation shaft and climb through. Ready your minigun and take a good shooting spot in the mainframe room. Sever will appear, keep hitting her with the minigun. If your accuracy is good, it shouldn't be too hard to finish her off, she can't shoot back when you hit her. If you run out of bullets, switch to the HK G11 and continue the way you did before. You could experiment with the Grenade Launcher, or, if you think this is all way to easy, drop some mines around. If you need to reload, don't forget to dodge her bullets by strafing and circling around her. Don't let her drive you into a corner but try to get her there. When you finally take her down, she'll tell you some more of the story and it's another mission complete. MISSION 11 ---------- OBJECTIVES: Locate Gant's hideout. Another huge mission, but it's quite fun and far less difficult than the previous mission. Anyway, when you start, run to the Pancor and the ammo and go to the left. Run into the NSA guy and shoot him three to five times with the Pancor. When you need to reload use the strafing technique to evade. When you kill him, pick up the HK G11 and walk to the end of the 'room'. There's another NSA Operative on your left side, kill him with the G11, or if you feel lucky, with the Pancor. Get the Health Kit and walk around the corner of the yellow container. Kill the NSA Operative there and pick up everything. You should have 100 health and 50 Armor by now. Crawl under the half open door and take cover behind the left, big red container. Turn around the corner, turn 90 degrees so you face the small side of the containers, and strafe left to kill the NSA Operative. Pick up the lood and repeat this process untill you emptied the whole room. Get behind the blue container and go through the open door. If you lost more than 25 health, get the Health Kit. Otherwise leave it for later use. When you face the next door, turn 90 degrees to the left and strafe right so that you see a small way between the two red brick walls. Walk to the end and strafe so that you can kill the two NSA guys with your HK G11. Pick up their item drops and walk to the end for some more SSG3000 ammo. Turn around and walk to the other end between the two yellow containers for two Health Kits and some Body Armor. Return through the small way between the two walls, and follow the path. Kill the NSA Operative in the next room, and search the room for his colleague. You should always keep moving from now on because there may be a NSA Rogue around with a grenade to toss at you. When you finished the two NSA Operatives, ascend the stairs to meet your first NSA Rogue. They have other weapons and need to take far more shots before they go down. Kill him with the HK G11 like you would do with any NSA Operative, and get the Health Kit. Go through the open door and run as far 'north' as you can. Kill the NSA Operative and get the SSG3000 ammo. Descend the stairs, quickly kill the other NSA guy and search for cover behind one of the containers. There's a Rogue around, so search for him and keep hitting him with the HK G11. Go on and ascend the stairs. In the yellow container area, fight your way to the end of the street and crawl through the shaft. Hit the roster blocking your way with a pistol bullet, switch back to your HK G11 and get as far to the grey wall as you can. The NSA Rogue above you can't hit you this way and it will give you some more time to kill the two NSA Operatives. Enter the building and kill the other NSA Operatives. Ascend the stairs and shoot the Rogue in his back. Shoot the shaft and crawl through. Take the right and run to the far end of the room, go down and kill the two NSA Operatives. Search the whole area for more ammo for your HK G11 and leave the building with the long runway with three NSA Operatives. Luckily, they stand all lined up and have nowhere to hide, so hold that fire button and let your HK G11 do the job. They'll drop more than enough Health Kits to get at 100 health so don't worry about that. (unless you screwed up the previous part) Switch to the Sig SSG3000 and zoom in untill you see a Rogue on the other side of the room. Don't zoom in too far because he'll need about four bullets and he'll step aside as soon as the first bullet hits him. Aiming when you've zoomed in too far can be difficult so say you zoom in so that you can clearly see his whole body. If you get lucky and shoot four times in a row, he'll drop without hitting you. If he had the chance to launch a rocket or two you're the one with bad luck, get patched up with the items you left behind or just continue. Switch to the HK G11 and clear the room. Crawl underneath the open door and kill the Operatives there. Now get back to the spot where you sniped down the Rogue and continue your way here. Quickly run through the first window and fall down. Kill the first two NSA Operatives. There's a Rogue just around the corner, so be careful and use your strafing to dodge his rockets. Kill him with the HK G11 and get the Minigun. Go back and climb up. Go through to the next window. This area is way too confusing to describe, instead I'll give some general hints: Use the HK G11 preferabely, but if you need to you can also use the Minigun. Try always to face the enemies one by one, because the groups can kill you in one or two seconds! You don't actually need to kill all the enemies, if you find the exit make a run for it. Okay, if you left you need to fight one more NSA Rogue before you can crawl underneath the door and finish the mission. MISSION 12 ---------- OBJECTIVE: Put an end to Gant! The final mission has a bit different structure than every mission you did before. Here's a schematic map of the whole thing, including the routes you'll need to take at the start: ______________________ | WW | | FF# # # WW | | FF | | # Y Y @ | | # G | |SS Y Y NN| |SS NN| | # | | # # # # # | |__________X___________| _ = Wall | = Wall X = Start point S = Security Guards F = FBI Agents W = SWATs N = NSA Operatives & Rogues G = Gant Y = Yellow Explosives Barrel # = The route to take at start @ = Excellent Sniping Spot If you managed to take the whole route and kill everybody there, you need to backtrack to your starting point. Now proceed the NSA Rogues and Operatives from the bottom side (south). Kill everybody there and pick up the Sig SSG3000. If you correctly did all this, you've come through the first part. Now search for a good spot to snipe Gant (@) and use the "Snipe without being seen" Trick learned in Mission 10. When you've runned out of ammo, return to your starting point and start all over again with the Security Agents, FBI Agents, SWATs etc. to get the NSA Operatives respawn. Kill them for more ammo, and repeat the process untill Gant falls. This is the cheap way to win, if you don't want to win this way, there's an alternative method: Keep running clockwise through every bunker of enemies to gather ammo and weapons, and each time when you think you've saved up enough and you killed the NSA Operatives and Rogues, search for a save spot close to Gant's platform, and use your standard weapons to defeat him. Remember the strafing, and only use Health Kits and Body Armours when you really need them. Explosions do huge damage, but even when you manage to get Gant near every barrel and let him feel the 100% of the explosion he still needs a lot of bullets before he goes down. When, at last, Gant falls down, you've completed the game! You'll get to read the final part of the story, and you can see the Credits roll along with some different music you heard before. (still bad though) To get more out of the game, I suggest you try to finish Sever's missions if you didn't earlier. It's a bit of a different story and the mission objectives are mostly different as well. Plus, the weapons you can get in each mission are different too, and you get one extra weapon to use (Sever's default weapon), but it has the same effect as Ecks default weapon. The walkthrough to some or maybe all missions of Sever will be up in the next version, keep on the lookout for it. :) PART II - THE SEVER MISSIONS Coming up in the next version. I already finished them, but I still need to write the walkthrough to some of the missions. It won't take long, be confidient. ===================================================================== 7. Weapons & Items ===================================================================== This section gives a list of all the weapons and items in the game. Markings for weapons go from * to *****. WEAPONS ======= SIG(TM) SAUER P230 - Sever default weapon * CLASS: HAND WEAPON Sever standard weapon with infinite ammunition. If you run out of bullets, one bullet will magically be added to your arsenal. Use it on very weak enemies, like the normal Security Guards. COLT(TM) 45 AUTOMATIC PISTOL - Ecks default weapon * CLASS: HAND WEAPON Ecks standard weapon. This is quite the same gun as Sever's Sauer, with the only difference being the graphic of the gun. INGRAM MAC 11 *** CLASS: UZI This weapon shoots bursts of 4 bullets when you press the A-Button. It can be useful, but it has only 16 (!) bullets in one clip thus leaving you to reload a lot in a firefight. COLT(TM) M16a ENHANCED RIFLE ** CLASS: RIFLE Earned in the first missions, it is pretty much your biggest gun to start with. Later on you'll find more useful weapons, but it can be very useful against Security Guards and FBI agents. SIG(TM) SSG3000 SNIPER RIFLE ***** CLASS: SNIPER RIFLE One of the best weapons in the game, this weapon is definitely a lot of fun to use. Press the fire button to bring up the scope, and use the L and R buttons to zoom in or out. Press fire again to fire the bullet. Great to pick out enemies at long range. PANCOR(TM) JACKHAMMER *** CLASS: SHOTGUN This weapon is quite a nice one. It fires about five "bullets" at the same time which spread out from the barrel. Use it at very close distance to get the most out of it. HECKLER & KOCH(TM) G11 ASSAULT RIFLE ****1/2 CLASS: MACHINEGUN This one's a really, really useful weapon! It can take out any enemy and even some bosses like Ecks and Sever (depending whom you play) without too much effort. Only use this against the lower enemies if you have no other weapons or when you're very low on health. GE(TM) MINI GUN M134 ***** CLASS: MINI GUN Even a bit better then the HK G11, it can be devastating against groups of enemies or very strong enemies like the NSA Operatives. Keep an eye at your ammunition counter though, as it shoots an extreme amount of bullets in a very short time. HECKLER & KOCH(TM) 40mm GRENADE LAUNCHER **** CLASS: GRENADE LAUNCHER Very useful against strong enemies or a pack of normal enemies. However, I do prefer the Mini Gun or the HK G11 to clear the spot. It's just a matter of taste anyways... M67(TM) FRAGMENTATION GRENADE *** CLASS: HAND GRENADE There are chances you hit yourself and it's also pretty short ranged, but if it hits... it hurts! Use it carefully. PROXIMITY MINES * CLASS: MINES That's right, only one star. These damn things aren't worth the effort to get them. They are very short ranged, block doorways, and in general don't kill any enemies. I really hope they improve them a bit in Ecks vs. Sever 2. ITEMS ===== AMMO For almost every weapon you can get additional ammunition, in general they provide you with one extra clip for the weapon they cover. BODY ARMOUR Increases your Armour counter with 50 if you aren't wearing full armour (100). Armour decreases the damage received but gets damaged itself as well. MEDI PACK Increases your Health counter with 20 if you aren't already at full health (100). HEALTH KIT Increases your Health counter with 40 if you aren't already at full health (100). THERMAL ENHANCEMENT GOGGLES Provide much better vision, and are mostly used in dark areas. The weird thing about them is that you can't put them off or anything, they just wear off after some time. KEY CARDS Allow you to enter various areas you couldn't acces before. You keep them after opening the door they fit into, but they become useless since there is only one door with the same Key Card. The number of Key Cards you have collected are displayed at the bottom right of the screen. ===================================================================== 8. Enemies ===================================================================== Here's a list of all different enemies in the game, including some comments on how to kill them and all the info the game manual gives about these guys. SECURITY GUARD Weaponry: Small revolver Armour: None The weakest of all enemies, use your pistol to kill them. They only take one or two bullets before they go down. "Security Guards are found patrolling the warehouses late at night. Lightly armed with no armour protection, they are a persistent but easy target to despatch of." The game manual. FBI AGENT Weaponry: Pistol Armour: None These guys take about four to five normal bullets before they go down. Use the pistol or the Jackhammer for these guys. "The FBI is the principal investigative arm of the United States Department of Justice. It has the authority and responsibility to investigate specific crimes assigned to it. The FBI also is authorized to provide other law enforcement agencies with cooperative services, such as fingerprint identification, laboratory examinations, and police training. These agents normally wear suits and carry standard issue side arms. They appear as individuals or small groups. Appearance - Sunglasses, radio earpieces and mobiles - they can call for reinforcements." The game manual. SWAT TEAM TROOPER Weaponry: Semi-Automatic Shotgun Armour: Load Bearing Tactical Vest Quite strong troopers that take a considerable amount of bullets to kill them. They often use shotguns so don't let them shoot you in the back from very close or you will die very quickly. "SWAT is an acronym for Special Weapons And Tactics. The SWAT unit responds to barricaded suspect situations and other crisis operations requiring specialized training, tactics, and equipment. They are moderately armed and lightly armoured." The game manual. SWAT TEAM ELEMENT LEADER Weaponry: Heckler & Koch 9mm MP5 Submachine Gun (tm) Armour: Load Bearing Tactical Vest, ballistic helmet & Rectangular Ballistic Shield Very strong enemies that take a lot of bullets before they go down. The pistol has almost no use against these guys, a Pancor Jackhammer is recommended. "Heavily armoured and moderately armed, these organized police units are much harder to kill than the standard SWAT Team Trooper. The Element Leader is often the most experienced member of the assault team, with a thorough understanding of all team positions. Because the Element Leader directs the tactical deployment of the team, he or she must have the ability to make quick, effective decisions under pressure." The game manual. NSA OPERATIVE Weaponry: Heckler & Koch 4.7mm G11 (tm) case less rifle with IR laser targeting scope Armour: General purpose flak jacket A small group of these enemies can take you out in a few seconds, so be sure to take them out seperately or very heavy armed. A Pancor can do the job, but I recommend an HK G11. "The National Security Agency (NSA) is one of the most secret (and secretive) members of the U.S. intelligence community. These are covert, high-techt warriors working individually as agents. They operate stealth fully and silently, appearing as a surprise or sniping from a covered position. They are heavily armed, although poorly armoured, and are fanatical, making them dangerous opponents." The game manual. ROGUE NSA OPERATIVE Weaponry: 40mm Grenade Launcher Armour: Unknown Government Prototype. Very Though. The strongest enemies (after the bosses) in the game. They use Grenade Launchers, and a grenade really hurts. Stay far away from these guys untill you feel convient enough to take them out. (or you get a lucky aim with the Sig SSG 3000) "Strange looking operatives that function on the fringes of society. They employ unconventional attack methods, weapons and appearance. Dirty fighters, with rumours of genetic modification, they are employed by the NSA in much the same way as Sever. Heavily armed and very heavily armoured." The game manual. ===================================================================== 9. Multi-Player ===================================================================== Coming up in the next version... Sorry. ===================================================================== 10. Codes & Secrets ===================================================================== Here's a list of all passwords for the game. To enter them choose Single Player in the main menu, and select Password. Ecks: 1. - 2. EXTREME 3. EXCITE 4. EXCAVATE 5. EXCALIBUR 6. EXTORT 7. EXPIRE 8. EXACT 9. EXHALE 10. EXHUME 11. EXONERATE 12. EXPEL Sever: 1. - 2. SEVERE 3. SURVIVE 4. SAVANT 5. SUFFER 6. SULPHER 7. SERVE 8. SEETHE 9. SEVERAL 10. SEVERANCE 11. SAVAGE 12. SACROSANCT MPlayer: 1. VULNERABLE 2. VENDETTA 3. VIOLATE 4. VORACIOUS 5. VINDICATE 6. VESUVIUS When you start a new game, you'll be asked to choose between Ecks and Sever. In this screen, use the R and L keys to rotate the models. Press up and down to scroll through some animations, including shooting, crouching and dying. I also found out this "bug", to test it you need an Sig SSG3000 and something like a counter. Crouch behind the counter, take out your SSG3000 and go to Sniper View. Now move the view up, and you can see the area above the counter without standing up! I don't know if this has been implented by the creators on purpose, but you can use it a lot of times in the game. ===================================================================== 11.
