I have taken one semester of Japanese, and it's almost no help.

*Game Starts*
Wow. Motion blur. I guess after seeing EGM also give Metal Gear Solid a
perfect 10, those fine Zelda folks decided to add that as well. Bla, turkey
club.
So, the game starts, your horse and ocarina are stolen, you go a couple of
screens, hopping onto some stumps, checking out the cool new flip jump
animations and run into an opening. More cut scenes follow with... motion
blur! And then you become a Deku Scrub.
The control is not returned to you. Right Shoulder makes you look like a
turtle, but I guess that's your shield. You can press A for a nifty swirling
attack and when you walk on one of the flower things (there's one in the
first room, but don't worry, when you need to use them you'll know what they
look like) and press A for a second till it makes a bleep sound, release and
you can float around. It seems time doesn't matter for how long you float,
only distance. So make it through the next rooms, going from platform to
platform. There's a chest with Deku Nuts on one platform. Soon you will
pass a twisted corridor ala Forest Temple and be in the sewers. Practice
jumping on the wate. As a Deku Scrub you can hop 4 (or is it 5? Should I
count inclusivly?) before you perish.
Oh, yeah. Death. Well, it's not very permanant, you respawn in the same
room, so drown a couple of times. Go up the stairs and try to leave. Happy
Mask guy talks to you and then you can leave and the game timer starts. 12
minutes equal a day, and you have three days. Return here to pause, kinda.
The 12 minute day clock stops in here.
*Town*
People in town hate Deku's and Link learns the evils of racism. Bla, turkey
club. Anyway, the dog doesnt like you either and will attack you for no
damage, which is kind of cool.
So, feel free to explore the town, you may get kicked out of some places and
they won't let you leave the town. Some of the minigames will let you play,
but not all of them. Actually I've only played one involving running to a
chest and lots of pillars coming out of the ground. I won deku nuts. Bla.
To actually advance plot:
From where you exit, continue going straight, vearing right, past a
bearded worker up a little path. If your in a room with a frog and
some water, your at the right place. Next, look over the little
stream for the flying fetus fairy and since I know you practiced
water hopping, you will be able to hop right over and catch it.
Next find the room with the slide, it also contains the mugger
(see below) and the little kid with balloon. Yes, it is possible
to get up the slide, you need speed and centering though, and I don't
think it's very useful to do as a Scrub. Find the exit that's
elevated (it's near a fence and a flower-hole-let's-you-fluy-thing) and
enter the fairy room.
Eek. More floating fetus farieeeees. Now you can reunite them with the
one you found by walking into the pool. They form a great Fairy who
gives you magic and the ability to press B to shoot whatever deku's
shoot. This takes magic power. Go outside and pop the balloon.
Oh, and if you see a court jester, buy his 5 ruppee item. Gives you a
nice little map at the bottom right hand corner. Not sure about the
40 one.
The kid throws a fit and his identicle cousins come in. Now it's your
job to find the other five. If they see you they run away, but get
close and swirl into them. Ignore what they say. Get the last one
and they stand up and tell you the secret password.
Now somewhere on the right side of the town (speaking from that little
map) is one kid blocking the entrance to a down sloped alley. He
askes for the password. Give it to him and go down. Some light water
hopping gets you to the observatory. Don't mess with the Scarecrow.
If he motion blurs, he eats up eight hours. Go up the stairs and talk
to the old guy, look in the telescope and zoom (A) on the top of the
light house. You loose control and see the guy who stole your stuff
and the moon cry a teardrop meteor that lands right near you. Look
around if you want, then leave through the front door and pick it up.
That's as far as I've gotten.
Some (maybe) random events I've seen:
Lady gets mugged at night near the slide thing. I tried to chase the
mugger, but he ran through the city's finest, who then stopped me.
Makes sense I'm sure.
Lady with Keatan Mask. It may actually be Pikacu, I didn't get a good
look. She runs into the frog room through the (seemingly) locked door.
Mail man. A rock guy, a Goron or whatever. He gives out mail and can
enter some rooms, like in the inn, that you can't.
