To obtain a sword from rivel Dojos:

You need to beat the master not by slaying him,
but by beating him so bad that he gives up. If 
you slay him you have to fight his students and
his number one student with real swords for 
slaying their master plus NO SWORD. If you make 
him give up then you get a NEW SWORD.
