HINT 1 

Whenever you confront Nemesis and there is no
selection event (where you have to make a choice
such as fight with the monster or enter the police
station) you can ALWAYS outrun Nemesis. This saves
ammo and it won't be all that tough to finish the 
game at hard mode. 


HINT 2 

In the subgame the mercenaries,the hostages are: 
(at least the ones I found)
 
1-fat man at Stagla service station 
2-woman in Raccoon press 
3-Marvin Branagh in the electricity facility 
4-Carlos Olivieira in the bar
